RIPLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT MOVES TO STOP CITY & SCHOOL DISTRICT FROM TREATING STUDENTS LIKE GITMO DETAINEES
Ripley, MS - The first step on the path to a federal lawsuit was taken this week after a Ripley High School student served the South Tippah School District (STSD) and the City of Ripley (Ripley) with a notice of claim outlining how both parties committed numerous federal and state law violations. This action was taken after STSD and Ripley ignored attempts to remedy this situation prior to the filing of a lawsuit. The notice of claim can be read here. TIME TO PLAY BALL: FORMER LAFAYETTE COUNTY SOFTBALL COACH SUES SCHOOL DISTRICT CITING DISCRIMINATION, UNEQUAL TREATMENT OF SOFTBALL TEAM
Oxford, MS– After it was given numerous opportunities to avoid a lawsuit and reinstate Catherine Papagolos as the Head Coach for the Lafayette County Softball Team, a federal lawsuit was filed in Oxford against the Lafayette County School District. The lawsuit alleges that Papagolos was denied equal treatment, as well as other statutory and constitutional rights, while serving as the softball coach. When she challenged the unequal treatment of women her coaching duties were stripped from her immediately. The complaint can be read here.
